Dog’s Temperament: Generally well behaved and submissive, but can get a little excited. Good with car rides and will generally sit at my lap for long hours.

Dog’s Problems: Fear of sticks, not fully toilet trained, need to be house broken at new place, too excited at times to listen to commands.

Ideal Owner: Preferably someone with some experience on this breed but not a necessity. Needs to be able to train her and have patience with her.

Ideal Home: JRT is HDB approved

Other information: She is not as hyperactive as most JRT (but she still does jump, run, dash) and is smaller in size as compared to a JRT.

This is the theme this year for AVA’s continuous effort in educating the public on responsible pet ownership. The 2 day roadshow at Ngee Ann City Civic Square ends this evening hopefully with more Singaporeans understanding what getting a pet means.

This year the roadshow has more booths than before, and boosts more interactive stalls and games to engage the public. As the Chinese Year of the Dog crosses the halfway line, we do see an increase in the number of animals, dogs especially, being abandoned/given up for adoption. They were brought to the pet shops from puppy mills. Since young, we humans do not care about their rights but using them for monetary purposes.

To those who think breeding their dogs and selling puppies is fun and profitable, be forewarned that this act is illegal in Singapore and you may find the respective authorities knocking on your doors.

As we continued life in a stressful and materialistic city, let us not be drawn into the vicious cycle of using our weaker couterparts as money spinning machines. This world needs more love, and our fellow animals and pets could do with more of it.

An animal may take a longer than usual time finding its right home, but a longer time taken in search of a permanent home is better than interchanging between many different rest stops which often causes trauma in the animals themselves.

Our lovely kitty family has found their home sweet home with a caring family. Thanks to all who has helped in one way or another for them. We are happy to announce that they have taken to their living environment well and kitty has been busy making friends and familiarising herself with the surroundings.**

A mother cat and her 2 kittens have been rescued from a construction area this morning. The kittens were under the risk of being crushed to death by the piling metal sheets and wooden pillars above their make shift home.

They are currently under the care of a friend who has allergies towards cat fur. We hope to seek fosterers to help take care of these kitties while we re-home them.

Character: Friendly towards humans, however tend to be alert towards the other animals around the house due to her natural instinct to protect her kids.
Health: Generally well, has a good appetite but on the thin side. Currently nursing the 2 kittens.

Kitten 1

Name: Bluey
Colour: Ginger, black and white body with blue eyes
Age: About 1-2 months
Character: Fiesty, loves to pose for the camera whenever the camera was focusing and very active.
Gender: Unknown
Health: Generally well, under mother’s nursing but take to solid food and water too.

Kitten 2

Name: Sniper
Colour: White and black with green eyes
Age: about 1-2 months
Character: Loves to play with the sibling, otherwise likes to laze around the mother. Likes exploring the living area and climbing around the playpen

**Latest Updates: The 3 kitties were relocated to a new place. When we drop in to visit them, the mother cat recognises us immediately and come to us for attention. She did not dismissed her role and kept a watchful vigilance over her kittens. Her kittens take to the area as there are plenty of toys to keep them amused, and all 3 of them were having a great time playing with us. The mother cat will be sent for spaying in October upon confirmation.
